Visual Conversations / Valuable Presentations

I’m a presentation designer, and I help corporate teams and educators transform their slides into clear, compelling, and persuasive visual experiences. I create effective eLearning content and offer presentation training across PowerPoint, Google Slides, and more.

Let me ask you this:

Are your slides really working for you – or are they working against you?

If you’re heading into a meeting with slides that look more like documents, you’re putting your message—and your audience—at risk. Here’s what usually happens:

  • The audience starts reading ahead, distracted from the speaker.
  • Once the slide’s been read, interest drops off fast.
  • Worst of all, the presenter might just read out the slide word-for-word—disengaging the audience completely.

Why Visuals Matter

The solution isn’t complicated: reduce the text, and replace it with visuals – images, diagrams, and charts that reinforce your message without overwhelming your audience. When slides support your voice rather than compete with it, it results in a more dynamic and effective presentation.

But creating powerful visual slides isn’t easy. That’s where professional design comes in. A clear, persuasive presentation which has been designed to communicate to a dedicated audience will be much more effective than a one which has been simply ‘tweaked’ the day before.

Designing for Impact

When designing a presentation, there’s a lot more to consider than just layout and bullet points. It is very important that you ask:

  • Are the colours high-contrast and accessible?
  • Is the typeface readable / legible from a distance?
  • Is the text size appropriate for your venue?
  • Is the language free of ‘in house’ jargon or acronyms?
  • Is the information dense or digestible?
  • Is it engaging and informative?
  • What will your audience walk away knowing – or feeling?

Too many presentations are created with the subject in mind, not the audience. But real impact happens when your message is crafted for the people you’re speaking to.

Better Presentations, Better Outcomes

A poorly designed presentation can damage your brand, make your team look unprofessional, and—even worse—lose you business. Especially in high-stakes situations like pitches or client meetings, your slides should reflect the value you bring.

So why not use visuals that elevate your message?

Working together we can create presentations that inform, persuade, and stick with your audience long after the final slide. Let’s chat about your next presentation: carlmiddleton@neatdesign.org / 01823 401 302
